Ali MacGraw

Ali MacGraw, also known as Elizabeth Alice MacGraw, is an American writer and designer who has won numerous awards for her writing and design. She is a proponent of animal rights. Her work has received acclaim by films such as Love Story (from 1970), Goodbye Columbus, (1969) as well as The Getaway, (1972). She was drawn to becoming an artist was influenced by her family background as a member of the New York family of artists. Her first job was as an assistant to photographers. After that, she switched to modelling and acting. Her first two movies got noticed and earned her recognition with the Golden Globe Award of Most Promising newcomer. MacGraw's 1970 film Love Story was an international smash, and earned the actress the Academy Award nomination and Golden Globe Award. In just three films she was deemed one of the most successful women in box office history. Her handprints and autograph were engraved at the Grauman's Chinese Theater. Other films she has appeared in include The Getaway Convoy Players as in the mini-series on TV The Winds of War. Moving Pictures, her 1991 autobiography, was released. MacGraw was divorced three times.
